Important dates to note:

  1. Last day to nominate: Sunday, August 27, 2023
  2. Last day to vote: Friday, September 1, 2023
  3. Announcement of winners: Monday, September 4, 2023

Award Guidelines

  1. Nominations are open to educators and educational institutions around the world (no fees involved).
  2. Nominations are open to all who are currently working or have retired from pre- primary, K12, and/or higher-education institutions.
  3. The nominee should have a minimum of 2 years' of working experience in an educational setting/institution.
  4. Self nominations are allowed (and welcome!)
  5. Nominations can be made by students, parents of students, colleagues or friends of the nominee(s).
  6. The more evidence submitted to support a nomination(s), the stronger the nomination(s) will be. Evidence includes but is not limited to news or magazine articles about the nominee, written or video testimonials or feedback about the nominee from students, parents, colleagues etc., online articles/social media posts/blog posts about the nominee, and evidence of award nominations/awards won by the nominee. Any and all type of evidence is most welcome.
  7. An individual may be nominated in only one award category. Duplicate or multiple nominations submitted for the same individual will be rejected.
  8. Nominations will be considered valid only when submitted through the nomination form and only when all mandatory fields on the form have been filled.
  9. Incomplete forms will not be considered for evaluation.
  10. Nominations will close at 11:59 pm on Sunday, August 27.
  11. Previous winners of the Star Educator Awards from Learning Matters are not eligible to apply.
  12. Jury's decisions are final and binding.
  13. Responses to the form may be made in any language.

Award Categories

  1. Excellence in Creative Teaching: This award recognises the imaginative and unique efforts taken by educators who goes the extra mile to make learning interesting, fun, and long-lasting. Whether it be inventive use of props or resourceful materials to get students engaged, they are always full of original and new ideas!
  2. Excellence in Teaching Mathematics: This award recognises educators who makes mathematics magical for students. They demystifies math by helping students gain a deeper understanding of the relationships between number, structures, and quantities. Put simply, they make math come alive in everyday life.
  3. Excellence in Teaching Science: This award recognises educators who strive to help students understand the underlying significance of science in our lives. They inspire students to observe, hypothesise, experiment, document, study and marvel at the physical and natural world around us.
  4. Excellence in Teaching Social Studies/Humanities: This award recognises educators who strives to make the study of people and the world interesting and engaging. From hands-on activities to innovative methods of teaching, they truly brings the world to the classroom!
  5. Excellence in Teaching Languages: This award recognises educators who makes the study of languages come alive for students. From the grammatical nuances of a language to its uniqueness, they enable students to recognise and appreciate the beauty of language.
  6. Excellence in Teaching Children with Special Needs: This award recognises educators who have made a commitment towards adapting learning for students who are differently abled. They refuse to take "not possible" for an answer and makes learning joyous and impactful for students with special and different needs.
  7. Excellence in Promoting Physical Education: This award recognises educators who instill a love for sports and for staying fit and active in their students. They take their students and institutions to great heights in the realm of physical education by instilling a love of playing sports/games, staying healthy, and the qualities of sportsmanship, team spirit and camaraderie.
  8. Champion of Digital Transformation: This award recognises educators who promote meaningful and resourceful use of technology among students and other educators. From educating others on using technology to improve themselves to promoting the use of apps, technology tools, and technology resources - they are excited about using technology in any form or shape to make teaching and learning easier and more interesting.
  9. Favourite Teacher Award: This award aims to recognise educators who are beloved by their students. They embody any or all of the following traits: a constant support system, a source of inspiration, great creativity in teaching, a fantastic sense of humour, make the teaching-learning process novel and interesting, or quite simply, someone who brightens up their students' day!
  10. Excellence in Leadership: This award recognises school owners or leaders who continuously strive to support, nurture, mentor and recognise the abilities and talent of their students and teachers. They are instrumental in creating a positive school community and culture that inspires staff, students, parents and colleagues towards excellence. These leaders invest in high-quality teaching resources and tools to promote academic and co-curricular excellence and are a role model for the entire institution.
  11. Educational Group of the Year: This award aims to recognise an impactful educational group (group includes more than 5 schools/institutions) that has demonstrated a progressive approach towards education. They give students the opportunity to excel in multiple domains, including sports, arts, dance, drama, and debate. As well they demonstrate commitment to the continuous professional development and growth of their teachers and have well-established educational and management processes.
  12. Outstanding Institution: This award aims to recognise institutions that take steps and measures to understand the challenges faced by educators and/or learners. This institution makes changes in the system and processes to help educators and/or learners adapt and deal with new challenges; they take active steps to provide help and support to those who need it and are always open to feedback. By recognising and celebrating the efforts made by educators and/or learners, they create an atmosphere of positivity, encouragement, cheer and growth.
